Jam Jams

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine (you can use butter, I always do)
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda, dissolved in
  • 3 tablespoons hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour (or more as needed to make a stiff dough for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam

Directions

  • 1 Cream together margarine and brown sugar. Beat in egg, molasses until fluffy.
  • 2 Add soda with water, salt and vanilla.
  • 3 Stir in eough flour to make a stiff dough for rolling.
  • 4 Roll out 1/8th inch thick and cut into circles. (about 1 1/2 inches across).
  • 5 Bake at 350*F for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • 6 Cool on wire racks.
  • 7 When cool put together in pairs with jam in the middle.
